Guiding Principles
- Take the lead from communities, work with the community to get to the research questions
- Plan research collaboratively
- Practice non-extractive relationship-building: don’t parachute in
- Recognize when communicating with frontline communities from a place of privilege: acknowledge your differences
- Show up without showing off
- Build trust with community groups
- Keep your priorities straight: the goal is policy change and building power for the grassroots movement. De-center yourself and your personal/professional goals
