Biography (Required)

Dr. Rosemary Nabaweesi is RWJF Endowed Chair of Health Policy at Meharry Medical College. She leads the center’s health policy research on minority health, education, and housing inequities in rural and urban communities. As a health services research expert, she supports the College’s expanded efforts to use health policy, implementation and community-engaged research to address health disparities in underserved communities. Dr. Nabaweesi previously served as an assistant professor of pediatrics and as an adjunct assistant professor for health policy and management at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. She also served as senior director for research and evaluation in the Division of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. Her academic background includes an M.D. from the Makerere University School of Medicine, Uganda’s largest and oldest public university. She also earned a Master of Public Health with a concentration in reproductive and population health and a doctorate in health policy management, both from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.
