I am a rising junior at Barnard College in New York City, born and raised in Kansas City, MO. I am double majoring in Neuroscience and Behavior and Human Rights, interested in the intersection between environmental justice and public health. This summer, I have been interning with CleanAirNow in Kansas City, KS. My main project is documenting violations of Toxic Release Inventory (TRI) and Hazardous Waste (HW) facilities in the neighborhoods of Argentine and Armourdale. I am investigating where compliance information has fallen short in these neighborhoods and why, on the federal, state, and local levels. The hope of this project is to provide awareness to the community on industrial violations and empower them to take further action as they see fit. I welcome any tips or expertise on navigating the various federal, state, and local databases and regulations!
