Community Norms And Code Of Conduct
To ensure a positive and fruitful experience for all SciCAN members we have established some basic guidelines for participation. You must accept these terms prior to joining the online community on communicating with fellow members.
By joining this community, you agree that you have read and will follow these rules and guidelines.
In order to preserve a climate that encourages both civil and fruitful dialogue, we reserve the right to suspend or terminate membership in this community for anyone who violates these rules. Questions about guidelines should be directed to our administrator through the email: info@scican.org.
The Rules
- Always treat all SciCAN Community Members with respect and courtesy. Challenging others’ views should not extend into attacking them. Respect differing opinions.
- Refrain from discrimination towards any other individual regarding race, color, religion, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, disability or military status or political view. All defamatory, abusive, profane, threatening, offensive, or illegal materials are strictly prohibited.
- Refrain from using the SciCAN logo without the explicit consent of SciCAN administrators.
- All messages on the site, including blogs and discussion posts, must add to the body of knowledge. We reserve the right to reject any message for any reason.
- Report to the SciCAN Administrators any conduct by the group’s members which is inappropriate, harmful, illegal or unethical.
No Solicitation Guidelines
In order to create an environment that is free from unwanted solicitation, we ask all participants to agree to the following guidelines:
- Because this is an action oriented group, members should feel supported and encouraged to invite colleagues to participate in online and in-person direct actions.
- Refrain from soliciting or marketing services or products or affiliated third party vendors to members of the SciCAN. This includes, but is not limited to, email, phone calls, direct mail, social media, online forums, and other SciCAN events.
- Contributions should be free of promotional messages, and sales activities are strictly prohibited. This includes messages posted to the discussion boards and messages sent directly to an individual.
- Participants' contributions should be objective and free of any conflict of interest. If you are unsure, please both use your best judgment and do not hesitate to contact the administrators for additional guidance.
